A mobile data terminal sits between the operator, the passenger seat, the airbags and the windshield. Getting the mount right is a safety decision as much as a comfort decision.

Operator Cockpit Checklist
Reach, sightlines, airbag zones and cable routing, checked from the driver's seat.
- Is the airbag path clear? Mounts and screens stay out of deployment zones defined by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Can the driver see past it? The screen shouldn't block the windshield, mirrors or controls.
- Can the passenger seat be used? Partners, trainees and prisoners change what the front seat needs to do.
- What about night glare? Screen position and dimming matter after dark.
- What happens at ignition-off? Docks, routers and chargers need a power plan that protects the battery.
- Is it secured? Equipment should stay put in a crash and resist theft.
