STRAIGHT ANSWERS.
Common questions from agencies and fleet managers starting a vehicle project. Don't see yours? Ask us directly.
Do I need a finished equipment list before I contact you?
No. Bring a complete specification if you have one, or just describe the assignment, the vehicle and what isn't working today. We'll work forward from there. Our free Upfit Planning Worksheet is a good place to start.
Who do you work with?
Law enforcement, fire, EMS and mobile medical, government fleets, commercial and utility fleets, security and campus patrol, and specialized vehicles like mobile command, drone units and disaster-response units. See Markets for how each one differs.
What does "complete vehicle delivery" mean?
Our goal is that you bring us the vehicle and the mission requirements, and you don't need another vendor before it's ready to go into service. That covers warning and scene lighting, communications, mobile data, video, power and equipment, and vehicle graphics. See Solutions.
What vehicles do you work on?
Purpose-built public-safety platforms, fleet SUVs, trucks and vans, and specialized vehicles. Every platform has its own electrical capacity, safety systems and manufacturer upfit guidance, so we confirm the details during scoping. See Vehicle Platforms.
What does the process look like?
Define, engineer, integrate, support. First we define the assignment and constraints. Then we engineer the layout, power and interfaces, integrate the systems in the vehicle, and support it after delivery. See How We Think.
Can you match our existing fleet standard?
Yes, bring your current specification, photos or a sample vehicle. Repeatable configurations are a big part of fleet work: a strong pilot vehicle should become a better standard for every vehicle after it.
Can equipment from a retiring vehicle be reused?
Sometimes. It depends on the condition of the equipment, whether it's compatible with the new platform, and whether it fits the new layout. We'll review it with you during scoping.
Do you handle vehicle graphics?
Yes. Marked, reflective, high-visibility, subdued and ghost packages can be part of the vehicle specification. See Vehicle Graphics.
Do you only sell certain brands?
No. Brand selection is driven by the requirement, the vehicle, compatibility and what the operator needs. Listing a manufacturer on our site doesn't mean we're a dealer for, or endorsed by, that company. See Brands.
Who's on your team?
Our team includes active personnel from law enforcement, fire, EMS and emergency services. That everyday operational perspective shapes the questions we ask. It works alongside, and never replaces, engineering requirements and manufacturer instructions. See About.
Where are you located, and how far do you travel?
Freedom Signal is based in Harnett County, North Carolina, and we work with agencies and fleets anywhere. Our mailing address is 6791 Overhills Road, Spring Lake, NC 28390. It's a secure office, so visits are by appointment only. We're a Freedom Technology Partners company, alongside Freedom Tech.
How do I get started?
